Project: Hurricane Helene
On September 26th and 27th, 2024 Hurricane Helene unleashed a "once in a generation" storm on Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Days of heavy rainfall and saturated soil led to historic levels of flooding. The mountains and communities still bear the scars from the unprecedented destruction. Yet, we remain strong and united in recovery.
Our roads are open. Our homes are being rebuilt. And now, we remember.
The museum in now in the process of collecting eye-witness accounts and oral histories documenting the storm. If you have a story, a memory, or an object you want to share from Hurricane Helene and the aftermath, please fill out the form below.
