Our History

051 People Sitting On Rock.JPG

Founded in 1983, the Nathanael Greene Museum opened with a single gallery and a vision to preserve the  history of Greeneville and Greene County. We have grown over the years and now feature 13 permanent galleries and several rotating gallery spaces.  In 2015, our name changed to the Greeneville-Greene County History Museum to more properly focus on the local area that is reflected in our artifacts and displays. Today, we welcome more than two thousand visitors annually from all over the world. The museum remains open and free to all visitors.
